Parrot Endangered List
Wild caught parrots were once the only choice for people who wanted a pet parrot. Demand for these beautiful birds resulted in an explosion in the exotic pet trade that continues today. The result, unfortunately, is that wild parrots are the most endangered family of birds in the world.

CITES, or the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, is an international agreement intended to curtail the illegal trade in wildlife. It is illegal to import or export exotic animals on the CITES list into any of the member nations, which include, among other countries, Canada, the United States, and Australia.
As a result, the only legal pet parrots in North America are those descended from wild caught parrots imported before CITES was ratified in 1975 and the U.S. passed the Wild Bird Conservation Act in 1993. Most pet parrots in the U.S. are birds hand raised by parrot breeders.
Unfortunately, smuggling parrots continues in the exotic pet trade, continuing to erode wild populations even when the parrot species is readily available through breeders. The sun conure, for instance, breeds readily in captivity and hand raised birds are easily available. In spite of this the exotic pet trade continues to catch and smuggle sun conures, reducing the wild population to 1,000 to 2,500 birds.

A Parrot Lover wrote, "I was against HR669, the bill was worded wrongly."
I replied, "yes there were flaws in the bill, but even if the bill was perfect in wording, Parrot lovers still would have voted against it to protect there fabricated rights and freedom to continue to own them basically turning there backs unto all parrots both in the wild and captive".
