Many Laws were tried and failed to gain support from Americans.
A good example would be here in Minnesota, where Bird, Puppy and Cat mills operate with no regulation, thousands suffer under no regulation.
Wisconsin is another state where mass breeding of Companion animals runs Rampant.
The Backyard breeder contributes to the killings far more than any mill does and you can find most backyard breeders hanging out on craigslist taking advantage of free advertisement.
As Americans continue to fight any laws that will impose on there precious rights and freedom many (no longer wanted) companion animals are dropped off at shelters.
A Tue Story.
Andy is our Blue Front Amazon, he is a Chaco, Andy is a former breeder, he was kept along with his mate strictly for breeding purposes, he knows no human contact, he only knows how to breed.
Andy's mate died, from what we hear was unfortunate as the bird could have been saved if tended to properly, Andy refused to mate with any other female after his mate died so Andy was sold to another breeder, That breeder also could not make any money off Andy and somewhere between breeders Andy became injured, his Talon was crippled, another injury that could have been fixed, both breeders pointed the finger at each other, Andy ended up at a bird sale and my wife (soft heart when it comes to abused animals) bought Andy and brought him home.
Andy now requires special perches that allow him to perch and hold onto his bounty, much of his food has to be chopped up fine so he can eat.
All for Money and to keep Americas thirst for Parrots supplied.
Another True Story
Mac, Our Blue & Gold Macaw, Mac was owned by drug dealers, he was kept in a basement along with a Cockatoo with a cross burnt in the birds chest.
Mac could hear mumbled sounds coming from upstairs where he lived, so now Mac sits on his cage and mumbles.
Mac was Beat with a stick and now one of his wings is broken, our vet said the injury might have been able to be fixed if it was addressed at that time, but sadly now Mac is crippled.
Many rescuers such as I can tell you many horrors stories, but what I find to be the most upsetting is the many that show up with no history what so ever, even the birds name has been lost from house to house.
Many Rescuers supported the fight concerning HR669...not this rescuer....
Was it really the wording?
What would happen if a very simple law came before the American People....Last generation, take good care of your Parrots, there the last you will ever have...its that plain and simple, all breeding of Exotic parrots will end as of this date, those that offend the law will be heavily fined including jail time....
Do you think Americans would support the law, or do ya think they would fight it hiding behind rights and freedom?
Hiding behind Loss of Jobs.
What would happen to Bird forums.....?
What would happen to Avian Vets?
What would happen to Avian Behaviorist?
But whats more important is....what would all these so called Parrot Lovers do now without there birds?
HR669 did accomplish one item....it brought out the TRUE COLORS of the Parrot Lover....
Its all about selfish false RIGHTS and Freedom....its to hell with what is truly happening to the Many Parrots, Both in the wild and caged....
Frankly...all the so called Rescue People that opposed HR669.....YOU DISGUST ME..BIG TIME.
