HR 669
Invasive Species Act.
Dear Senator Erik Paulsen
I am writing to you with a plea to support the Bill HR 669.
Those that will oppose this bill will stress Rights and Freedom and also the Jobs that will be lost.
To help you see through these clouds intended to block your vision I will stress change.
Oneday the oil will run out, what happens to the refinery workers?, what will happen to the Truck Driver hauling gas to the pumps, will that truck driver not find a different item to haul?
For 27 years I put Hot Tar roofs on buildings, today there is a new system called thermo plastic, am I to give up and sink, or am I to learn the new system and move on with the change?
Changes are going to happen, people will adapt to these changes, so please push this cloud out of the way of your clear vision.
Next those that oppose this bill will claim freedom and rights, I will help concerning this issue using Truth and Facts.
I am placing myself before you Senator because Rights and Freedom are being abused, over 4 million (Non Native) companion animals were killed at animal shelters in the USA last year and there numbers are climbing in 2009.
There are thousands and thousands of Exotic Parrots sitting at Sanctuaries and Rescue Facilities here in the USA, Many of these birds suffer diseases and viruses only found in (Caged Birds), and the saddest aspect, almost every exotic parrot species in the wild are now endangered, Habitat loss and pouching are the main cause, seems there is a market and exotic parrots are needed to keep the Americans thirst to own them filled.
Fact, Even under new laws that govern Exotic birds coming into the USA, the pouching continues.
Fact, recently Mexico passed a law that no exotic parrots can be owned and or kept as pets, they are trying to protect the parrots in the jungles being pouched, many of these birds are headed for the USA.
Fact, almost every exotic parrot species can be found thriving in the wild, The Monk Parakeet aka The Quaker Parrot is a main issue, they are building there nests on power poles around the transmitters that provide heat, there nests are being torn down in the bitter winter months to assure they do not survive, the poison Avitrol is being used to mass kill them, you can find many sites on the internet to support this Fact!
Fact, currently there are colonies of wild feral felines living in the states of Wisconsin and Michigan, there numbers are in the thousands, these wild colonies kill millions of song birds each year to support there numbers, now our natural predators such as Falcons, Owls, Eagles, Hawks are starving, Imagine that Senator, our Nations Symbol, The Bald Eagle is starving in his own homeland.
Fact, Freedom and Rights are being abused Senator, or I would not be writing this letter to you!
Non Native (companion animals) lives are being thrown around as if there lives have no value, many other Bills where tried and failed to gain support, Bills intended to raise the value of there lives and take there lives out of the hands of US citizens that continue to abuse (there low cost).
Fact, in the time it took me to write to you, thousands of (Non Native) companion animals were killed here in the USA at tax payer supported animal shelters through out the USA.
Fact, 45 years ago Senator, you could not find a Exotic Parrot in a pet shop or at a animal shelter, you will find them there today as Man adds the Parrot to his/her pet list.
Fact, 45 years ago, you could not find Exotic Parrots thriving in the wild here in the USA.
Are we to ignore such Facts and Truth and consider Rights and Freedom that are obviously being abused?
There numbers are Staggering Senator, (Non Native Companion Animals), they are currently being slaughtered, mass poisoned, thriving in the wild, all at the hands of the many, careless US citizens that will cloud your clear vision by claiming Rights and Freedom and abusing such Rights and Freedom.
Hasn't this been happening long enough Senator?
Please support HR 669!
Sincerely
Arty Tovar
Fact....Many bills were placed in front of our law makers, lesser bills that would help the animals, lesser bills that would still allow us all to keep and care for our pets, these bill did not gain support.
Fact....The so called Rights and Freedom Americans seem to claim are being abused, such proof can be found at the many shelters located through out the USA.
Fact....The truth is obvious, The truth shines, The FACTS are as clear as can be.
Fact....there is a very serious issue...or I would not be writing this, I would have no need to fight for them....
Stop hiding behind such false rights and freedom, the facts and truth can be seen all over the USA.
Things simply would not have come down to this if you the (animal lover) would have helped when needed.
If this bill does not pass, its far from being over...changes are going to come....

Here are some words from concerned people, as you can see, they all are concerned about the general treatment of exotic (Non Native) species, there concern about the well being of all these animals simply shine within there words.
I own an "all avian" store here. This bill woud put me out of work, and my employees on unemployment. Not to mention that the government(s) would loose a good bit of tax dollars. I was taught that more expenses (welfare, unemployment, food stamps, law suits, etc.) and less income (all the tax dollares from the entire pet industry) is a business doomed to fail! That's to say nothing about my American freedom to own a pet. VOTE NO on Bill HR669!
********************************
I just learned about HR669 today and I must say I'm worried about the impact this bill will have on our society, not to mention the pet industry and the jobs dependent on it. I understand the need to stop the release of non native species into our wild, but punishing millions of responsible pet owners in order to stop the few irresponsible ones is not the way. I say NO to HR669.
*********************************
Pets are family, not just animals. Our freedoms shouldn't be stripped away like this.
*********************************
As an owner of two chinchillas, I think this is wrong to stop people from owning such animals. There's nothing a chinchilla could do to effect the ecosystem of Michigan if they were relesed in the wild.
******************************
This bill is ridiculous and pointless. The animals that are doing the most damage are not included in the bill. If it gets passed the US will be changed forever. This so called "free" country is getting less and less free every day! Oppose HR 669!!!
********************************
I cannot express in just a few words how outraged I am over the audacity you people have to presume to tell the American public what domesticated animals we can have. Animals that have in fact, been our best companions for over two hundred years. Could horses (a species not native to the United States) be included in this ban? Many of the animal species in this country have been domesticated in this country for several hundred years. If you wanted to control what animals are in this country, this should have been done over a hundred years ago. I'd say the barn door has closed on this a long time ago.
*****************************
I have had thriving pet birds for 30 years. Most would be dead in the wild after 10 years. My birds are all bred here in the U.S.Why should we pay for a breeders licence if it will not be allowed? The United States Government should be responsive to the people here.Remember this when we get to the ballots next year.
********************************
This bill will seriously hurt thousands of hardworking small businesses. It will deprive millions of citizens of their future beloved pets. Many people will have to choose either euthanasia or mass release of their breeding stock. Animal lovers will surely choose release when forced into this choice.
********************************
I can't believe that after years of having animals like these as wonderful pets that a bill could stop us from having these great animals. I have had birds for years they are are the best loving pets. This bill takes away your freedown of choice to own these wonderful pets.
***************************
we should be trying to help animals not make it harder for them--animal lovers should be allowed to include them in their families!!!! Irresponsible people who dont care for their animals should be penalized not the caring people!!!
******************************
I support regulating the animal trade, but this is far too broad and, as it stands, expensive and clunky. In addition to depriving people of "exotic pets" for no reason (I realize some can be invasive in tropical states, but if so, ban them in those states, not on a federal level!), this is going to put the pet industry out of business overnight. Thousands of pet shops, millions of jobs...surely this can be handled better! The rule should be "allowed until proven harmful", and the list should be done by state, not a sweeping overall list. Save our pets, and save the pet industry--vote NO to HR 669.
*******************************
Well there ya have it, not one word was mentioned about the many sitting at shelters, exotic birds stressed out and pulling there feathers out, all I am reading is Freedom and oh my poor job will be lost.
Americans had plenty of jobs when there was just a few animals on the American pet list, the dog and cat, this country thrived on the many slaughtered (no longer wanted) companion animals back then and they will continue to thrive on the killings today, its all about money.
Not one word was mentioned concerning what the animals endure, it all about Americans and there Needs.
